Always Check Your Mobile Marketing Before it Goes Live

October 5th, 2010 16:56

On Friday October 1, 2010, consumers interacting with Chad Ochocinco's cereal box to give to his charity were instead routed to a phone sex line. The result? Kroeger pulled all of the cereal boxes from the shelves and Ochocinco's charity received very few donations. The cause? A typo on the prefix of the call-in number put the wrong number on the cereal box. This is unfortunate but highly preventable as it should have gone through Q&A before the proof was sent to the printer. The number on the box always needs to be called and checked and never assumed to work. If you want your mobile marketing to succeed, always double check it.
