Five Things Mobile Marketers Can Learn From October Baseball

JAGTAG is headquartered in Princeton NJ. Princeton happens to be the delineation line between NY sports fans and Philly sports fans. However, the majority of our office hails from Philly and has adopted the Phillies as their own. Of course we have one lone Giants fan and one lone Yankees fan, but for the most part we are Philly through and through. While we leave our offices to watch our favorite teams at night we still learn some important lessons from October baseball in 2010:

1. It's never over until it's over as epitomized by New York Yankees win over the Rangers in Game one. Everyone's business starts off slow, but your campaign or your business always has the opportunity to come back if you are still in the game.

2. Good Pitching is key to winning. All of the teams in this year's post season have solid pitching. If your sales guy can't pitch, you won't make the sale and your company will have trouble rising to the top.

3. Home Runs work and so do singles. The Yankees were able to manufacture a huge 5 run inning on Friday based on one single. The Giants in game one against Philly won due to one swing of the bat. The lesson to learn is that it doesn't matter if you hit home run or singles, both count and can lead to runs or in the case of a mobile marketer, revenue.

4. Stats are really important. If you ever meet a baseball fan, they are always going to give you a statistic. Statistics in mobile marketing are just as important as they are in baseball. You need to know your subscription percentage, total audience and the sometimes the errors that you've made.

5. There will be moments of sheer boredom and moments that are so nerve racking you wonder why you even participate. Baseball can be boring and it can also be very nerve wracking. Mobile marketing can be same. The point here is to know that it's not always going to be glamorous. Some days will be boring and some days will test your patience, but with the right team, you can be playing for it al
