OK, the big announcement has been made, Verizon will finally carry the iPhone.
Why would you want to change to a different carrier? The phone will look exactly the same. It's like breaking up with Salma Hayek and dating Gloria Delgado. They are both exotic, very sexy, look good in a black dress and will cost you $300 bucks if you want to go out with them. Is it worth switching teams when both are a 10?…we'll see.
What's different? First, AT&T (Gloria) is a GSM (worldwide) phone, the Verizon (Salma) is CDMA (US only). If you are an international traveller, you should hang onto Gloria. If you are a home body Salma may be your girl.
Basic services cost approximately the same, approximately $100 a month. Verizon tests faster and gives you an unlimited data plan. If you like a phone that multi-tasks, simultaneous data and voice only happens on AT&T.
Getting a Verizon iPhone is an emotional decision. Either you waited to get an iPhone or you are switching carriers. If you want out, divorce from Gloria (AT&T) that costs $325, Salma will cost more cash to be mobile free.
Usually Apple makes a new model every year, we know the iPhone 4G is right around the corner. It might be called the iPhone5 but it will be like adding Katy Perry and Beyonce to the mix. We are constantly going to have to make pretty device decisions in the future if we are going to play the iPhone game.
Switching to an Android phone is an option, but that would be like trading Gloria Delgado for Lady Gaga. Compatibility would definitely be an issue and it would be hard to explain the relationship to your family.
