Opera Launches App Store

operaOpera, the company behind the well-known Opera Mini web browser, has just launch an App Store, called Opera Mobile Store. Opera will promote the store trough it’s Opera Mini and Opera Mobile browser installed base of 100 million consumers, according Opera.

The store is developed and maintained by Appia (former PocketGear). Both free and paid applications are supported for Java, Symbian, BlackBerry and Android devices. For paid applications, supported billing methods include credit card, Amazon and carrier payments. Developers selling their apps via the Opera Mobile Store will receive a 70% revenue share, after deducting VAT and billing costs.

To support the Opera Mobile Store, Opera Software has also launched the Opera Publisher Portal. In its pre-launch state, the Opera Mobile Store is said to have attracted more than 15 million users in February, from 200 countries, generating more than 700,000 downloads per day.
